John Beswick Snowman
The Snowman book was first published in 1978, it was a picture book without words created by Raymond Briggs. In 1982 it was turned into a short 26 minute film and shown on British television on Boxing Day of that year and received an Academy Nomination. Like the book, the short film told the Snowman’s story through pictures, actions and music with the only words being the lyrics to “Walking in the Air” sung by choirboy Peter Auty. The story is a simple story of a boy who builds a snowman after heavy snow. At the stroke of midnight the Snowman comes to life and The Snowman and James Flying
across the roof tops becomes the adventure backed by the sound track “Walking in the Air”. Many of the scenes and sentiments of the original film are captured in these John Beswick Snowman Figurines
. The Snowman and James Hugging
and The Snowman and James Dancing
capture the innocence and love so beautifully portrayed in the original book and film. 30 years on in 2012, Raymond Biggs gave his permission for a new film to produced to mark the originals 30th anniversary. The Snowman and the Snow Dog
was an instant success. And the figurines of The Snowman, Billy and The Snow Dog
