Inspired by designer Kit Kemp’s whimsical illustrative story of The Sailor’s Farewell, this large sized cream jug crafted in fine bone china features several motifs from his imaginary voyage. The rust red sails of the sailor’s ship head towards an enticing house under a palm tree on a faraway desert island passing a curious octopus beneath the waves. With its pale blue finish echoing the original fabric design created by Kit Kemp, the jug is embellished with a deeper blue and hand-applied 22 carat gold trim and forms part of a second collaboration between the designer and Wedgwood continuing her folkloric story. Backstamped for authenticity and presented in a Wedgwood blue gift box, this is a charming piece which forms part of a stylish tea ware collection used within two of the boutique hotels in New York and London co-owned by Kit Kemp.
