John Beswick Horses
John Beswick Horses are designed to appeal to those who love all things equine. The relationship between human and horse dates back to 4000BC when man first domesticated this beautiful animal. The continuing relationship between man and beast has developed three distinct type of Horse. The working Horse, sometimes referred to as the cold blooded horse has been bred to develop thick set muscles perfect for heavy duty work. It is not so long ago that the
Shire Horse was a familiar site across the country pulling carts, wagons and essential to farm work. One such Breed is the
Clydesdale, originally bred as a smaller draught horse it has distinctive white markings. Still used in haulage today the Clydesdale is also used as the drum horse for the Household Cavalry. Smaller, but bred for strength and endurance, the Welsh Cob is descended from the native ponies of Wales said to have existed in 1600BC. John Beswick have created studies of this native pony in
Black,
Grey and
Bay. It is thought that today’s Welsh Cob has had some Arabian blood introduced to the line in the middle ages but this has not detracted from the pony’s sturdy appearance and these docile animals make excellent riding ponies. For the Crème de la crème of the Horse world the sleek Thoroughbred Horse is difficult to beat. The Thoroughbred horse was developed in the 17th and 18th century in England when native mares were crossbred with Arabian stallions to produce a “hot blooded horse” known for its agility, speed and spirit. John Beswick have four studies of Thoroughbreds from the
Thoroughbred Foal and
Mare to the Thoroughbred race horse in either
Dark Bay or
Steel Grey. The term “Warm Blooded” Horses refers to horses which neither have the muscle power of the cold blooded horse or the agility of the hot blooded horse. These warm blooded breeds are often found at gymkhanas and riding stables. And the
John Beswick First Pony is a perfect example. More even tempered and human friendly they are beloved by everyone from children to adults. Pick your favourite breeds and collect John Beswick Horses today. John Beswick also make a range of dramatic stylised horses in their
