Spode Blue Room
First introduced in the 18th century Spode Blue Room was made famous by Josiah Spode who perfected the technique of blue underglazed printing on earthenware using hand engraved copper plates. The same rich diversity of motifs are used today, from nature studies of flora and fauna to exotic scenes and the English countryside. The collection is divided into two main collectable categories. Blue Room Cups and Saucers
, these are available in the generous “jumbo” size. The designs depict some of Spode Blue Room’s most popular designs including Aesop's Fables
, Indian Sporting and Gothic Castle. Aesop was not an individual person but was more likely to be a generic name given to story tellers who made up tales to explain the natural world. These Cups and Saucers are immensely practical for everyday use, and they also look delightful when displayed on a dresser. The most popular range in the Blue Room Collection is the Blue Room Mugs
. The mugs come beautifully packaged and make an ideal gift. Designs include Aesop's Fables, Greek, Gothic Castle and Indian Sporting and Floral Motifs of Blue Rose
and Geranium. All Spode Blue Room Collections are available at Kings and Queens with a 20% discount off normal retail prices, so why not start your collection today.
