Royal Albert Polka Rose
Royal Albert Polka Rose is one of the design’s included in the original 100 Years of Royal Albert Collection. Its popularity inspired Royal Albert to create a complete collection based on this 1930’s Art Deco Design. Understated and timeless the background of soft green and white polka dots makes Polka Rose the most elegant and sophisticated of the vintage collections. Art Deco flourished in popularity throughout the 1920s, 30s and 40’s and was a concept design that combined traditional motifs reworked to bring luxury, glamour and exuberance to everyday objects. Polka Rose remains true to this philosophy and combines a simple polka dot pattern with the colour and drama of the brightly coloured rose motifs. The sense of glamour is underlined by the delicate gold edging on rims, handles and bases. The Royal Albert Rose is used more sparingly than in the other vintage collections and as a result there is a calm serenity with Polka Rose. Of the three size plates only the dinner plate bears the rose motif in the centre against the pure white of Royal Albert Fine Bone China with a polka dot border around the edge and discreet gold edging. The other two plates are decorated merely with the white polka dots against the subtle green background. The rose is also used a central motif on the soup plate, oval platter and sandwich tray. It also decorates the lids of the teapots and sugar bowl and is discretely included on the inner rim of the cups and mugs. Polka Rose is available at Kings and Queens at competitive prices with 20% off normal retail price.
