The History Of Royal Albert

In 1846 founder, Thomas Wild, purchased the Albert Works in Longton Stoke on Trent and made a range of commemorative plates to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. He was awarded the Royal Warrant and in 1904 renamed the company Royal Albert after Victoria’s consort. The company focused on floral chintz and art deco designs applying them to fine bone china and creating tea sets and dinner services which proved very popular. Designer Harold Holdcroft produced the companies flag ship pattern still in production today,Old Country Roses. Based on a 1921 pattern, the Kings Ransom, Old Country Roses is the worlds most collected china pattern. In 2006 Royal Albert launched the 100 years of Royal Albert show casing design and decoration from 1900 to 1990 inclusive. The popularity of these vintage and nostalgic patterns led to Royal Albert introducing its “Vintage Collections” in 2012. Old Country Roses was 50 years old and the Vintage New Country Roses took this pattern as its inspiration. Updated and with a clear contemporary feel the Collection includes:New Country Roses White,New Country Roses Pink,Rose Confetti,Cheeky Pink,Polka BlueandPolka Rose. Hugely successful the Vintage ranges appeal to many current interior trends. Eclectic, retro, feminine, frivolous and fun, each has a nostalgic air coupled with modern interpretation and Royal Albert quality.
