Portmeirion Sophie Conran
Sophie Conran is part of the Conran design Dynasty. Taking inspiration from both her father, Sir Terence Conran and her mother, food writer Caroline Conran, Sophie has created her own design philosophy while inheriting her mother’s love of food. Her early career focused on the world of fashion working for both couture milliner Stephen Jones and later at the studio of her brother Jasper. Although successful in this field, Sophie had a talent for interior design and as a food writer. Her book Sophie Conran Pies won 4 Fine Food Awards in 2005. Sophie joined Portmeirion in 2006 to produce tableware which was practical but also aesthetically pleasing. The
Portmeirion Sophie Conran White collection broke new ground in tableware. The casual artisan feel of the tableware was an instant success and the range was launched in a variety of colours over the years although most have now been retired, the white collection goes from strength to strength. In 2015 Portmeirion launched
Sophie Conran Blue. This subtly decorated tableware mixed four different patterns applied to the pieces from the white collection. Sophie Conran Blue Collection is inspired by traditional sponge ware and the British love of blue and white china. Portmeirion also launched
Sophie Conran Pebble in 2015. This small range was designed to act as an accent range to the White Collection allowing customers to mix and match the collections to create their own unique dinner service. Christmas 2015 also saw the full launch of
Sophie Conran Christmas. An eclectic mix of designs based on spongeware decoration with a traditional red and green festive palette, Sophie Conran Christmas is all about family and sharing. Sophie has added interest to her white collection by creating pieces embossed with hearts and stars in her
embossed range and by adding a romantic touch with the
Sophie Conran Hearts Collection. The Sophie Conran @ Portmeirion Collections continue to grow and the
Metal Cookware introduced in 2013 is designed to harmonies with her tableware while using the latest technology in non stick coatings and bodies that distribute heat evenly. The Sophie Conran Metal Cookware once again adheres to Sophie’s design philosophy of creating quality product while not compromising on style. The collections are completed by a range of
Sophie Conran Glassware. Reproducing the hand thrown feel of her tableware each glass is gently rippled to match the tableware collection. New to Sophie Conran in 2016 is a selection of bakeware including
Batter Jug, round
Cake Mould, and
Shaker perfect for sugar or as a flour dredger. New for Sophie Conran Blue in 2016 is a set of Melamine Plates and Bowls including
Dinner Plate,
Salad Plate and
Bowl, perfect for dining alfresco. To celebrate 10 years of partnership between Sophie Conran and Portmeirion Sophie has designed 10 new mugs in the
Sophie Conran 10th Anniversary Collection. The Portmeirion Sophie Conran tableware range is now one of the company’s biggest sellers and at Kings and Queens you can save 20% across the complete range so there has never been a better time to start collecting.
