Wedgwood Vera Wang Grosgrain Indigo
New in 2016 Grosgrain Indigo is a colourful variation on Vera Wang’s best selling tableware collection Grosgrain. Grosgrain is a reference to the Grosgrain ribbon used in many of Vera Wang’s Bridal Gowns. Grosgrain is characterised by the prominent transverse rib which are created when the weft of the ribbon is heavier than the warp. This ribbing effect is represented in Indigo Grosgrain by the concentric circles which border the plates, bowls etc. This is best seen on the Vera Wang Grosgrain Indigo 20cm plate
. The pattern is then enhanced with a Swiss Dot motif which is painstakingly applied below. To add further glamour to the pattern inner and outer rims of rich platinum are added giving depth and opulence to each piece. The platinum is also used to add a thin band to handles and to cover knobs as on the Grosgrain Indigo Teapot
. The Grosgrain patter is smart chic and subtle adding just enough interest to the fine bone china while remaining elegantly understated. All Wedgwood ranges, including Vera Wang Grosgrain Indigo, are discounted by 20% at Kings and Queens.
