Jasper Conran Chinoiserie Green
Chinoiserie decoration first arrived in Britain at the end of the 17th century and grew in appeal in the 18th century. Chinoiserie offered a taste of the exotic as the decoration was based on traditional motifs used in China and East Asia. As trade grew between Britain and China and Asia the desire for the exotic grew with it. With tea being imported into Britain in an ever increasing scale it was only natural that Britain looked to the tea producers for teapots, cups etc in which to enjoy this expensive new drink. Although adapted to British shapes, the Chinoiserie pattern remained popular. Often considered “Chintzy” and “Feminine” Jasper Conran offers a new interpretation of this centuries old design. Jasper Conran has striped the concept of its chintzy interpretations and has made it bold and contemporary. The traditional motifs remain but they have been restyled and applied in blue, green and white on a rich green background. Add Chinoiserie Green to Jasper Conran White or Jasper Conran Baroque to create a visually dramatic dinner service.
